SUNNYVALE, Calif. - The University of Hawai'i cross country team persevered until the end at the Bronco Invitational Saturday morning, finishing 16th in the 6k race.
"Rough day, I take responsibility for not having the team ready to perform better today." said UH head coach Tim Boyce. "Off days occur. The season to this point has been positive and training has been going well, we'll do all we can to be at our best in two weeks".
Amongst the 143 finishes at the Santa Clara hosted event, junior Sophia Morgan was the first Rainbow Wahine to cross the finish line in a time of 21:43.5, finishing 42nd. Freshman Sam North followed 55 seconds later with a mark of 22:38.6, placing 77th.
Sophomore Sophia Lodigiani was the third 'Bow to finish at a time of 22:59.5, finishing 98th.
Leading the meet was San Francisco with Portland State coming in as runner-up. Overall, UH finished 16th with a total time of 1:54:03.20 and average of 22:48.64.
The Wahine will now focus on competing in the Big West Championships in two weeks on Friday, Oct. 29 in Davis, Calif.
