HONOLULU - The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team will continue the Anuenue Invitational this week against HPU. The Invitational, which started last weekend, will start action on Thursday, Oct. 14 and Friday, Oct. 15. Both days matches will begin at 3:30 p.m.
In last week's competition in doubles, UH's Lexi Merrill and Nidhi Surapaneni defeated HPU's Marta Ruszcaynska and Rikona Murakami, 8-4, while HPU's Elodie Busson and Valentina Mokrova won over UH's Tyla Zandberg and Satsuki Takamura, 8-5.
In singles, UH took three out of four singles matches from HPU, with UH's Lea Romain defeating HPU's Mokrova, 4-6, 7-5,6-1 and Madison Kim rallying over HPU's Ruszczynska, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Additionally, UH's Jessalyn Lopez quickly closed her singles match against HPU's Murakami within two sets, 6-2, 6-1.
The second day of the Anuenue Invite on Saturday, Oct. 9 ws canceled due to inclement weather.
