HONOLULU – University of Oklahoma transfer Zacchaeus McKinney has joined the University of Hawai'i football program for the 2021 season. McKinney has enrolled at UH in time for the spring semester and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
The Weatherford, Texas native attended OU for four seasons, earning his bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies last month. After redshirting in 2017 and not appearing in any games in 2018, he saw action in one game each in 2019 and 2020. McKinney was a member of the Sooners' College Football Playoff national semifinal teams of 2017, '18 and '19.
A three-star prospect out of Weatherford High School in Texas, McKinney was rated as the No. 39 defensive tackle in the country by Rivals. He was also ranked as the No. 82 overall prospect in the state of Texas and also held high school offers from Houston, Oklahoma State and Texas.
