DALLAS – University of Hawai'i junior offensive lineman
Ilm Manning was selected to the watch list of the Outland Trophy, which is awarded to college football's top interior lineman either on offense or defense.
Manning was among 85 linemen recognized representing all 10 FBS conferences, including one of seven from the Mountain West. The Glendale, Ariz., native is also the third UH football student-athlete named to a preseason watch list joining
Miles Reed (Doak Walker Award) and
Jared Smart (Biletnikoff Award).
Over his two-year career, Manning has started all 29 games at left tackle. The two-time academic all-Mountain West selection was named to the all-conference second team in 2019 and was a key member of the offensive line unit that helped UH finish No. 5 in passing offense and No. 13 in total offense.
Manning was also named to the preseason all-conference first team by both Athlon and Phil Steele.
The recipient of the 75
th Outland Trophy will be announced in early December. The official presentation to the winner will be made in Omaha, Neb., at the Outland Trophy Awards Dinner sponsored by Werner Enterprises and produced by the Greater Omaha Sports Committee, scheduled for Jan. 13, 2021.
