Rainbow Sailors Place Sixth At LA Harbor Cup

LOS ANGELES - The University of Hawai'i Rainbow sailing team finished in sixth place at The Port of Los Angeles Harbor Cup held March 6-8 off the shores of Southern California. The three-day regatta hosted by the Port of Los Angeles, LA Yacht Club, and Cal State University Maritime Academy was held with a fleet of identical Catalina 37s.

A diverse field of 10 schools representing both the East and West coasts competed over the weekend. Host Cal Maritime captured the regatta with 32 points. The Rainbows finihed with 53. The 'Bows were hurt by some inconsistency, but were able to battle back with a pair of second place finishes, including in the 10th and final race of the weekend.

Sailing for UH were Pelle Bergstrom, Kelsie Grant, Hayden Lahr, Owen Lahr, Jack Lugliani, Samuel Patton, Bastien Rasse, Devon Stapleton, and skipper Patrick Wilkinson.

Next up, the UH coed sailing team will compete in the St. Francis Invite, March 28-29 in San Francisco, Calif.
