HONOLULU – On a day that should have been an early audition for former University of Hawai'i football players, the coronavirus pandemic put a halt to UH's Pro Day, scheduled for Tuesday, March 24 at UCLA's campus.
Seventeen former Rainbow Warriors were scheduled to participate in front of NFL scouts and player personnel. Among them were quarterback
Cole McDonald and cornerback
Rojesterman Farris II, both of whom were NFL Draft hopefuls.
McDonald participated in the NFL Scouting Combine last month where he put up impressive numbers. Among the quarterbacks, he ranked No. 1 in the 40-yard dash and vertical jump, No. 3 in the 3-cone drill, No. 4 in the broad jump, and No. 10 in the 20-yard shuttle.
Following the 2019 season, McDonald announced his decision to forgo his senior season and apply for the NFL Draft. The La Mirada, Calif., native finished his career fourth all-time on the school's passing yardage (8,032) and passing touchdowns (70) lists. Last season, he led the Rainbow Warriors to a 10-win season and was selected Most Valuable Player of the SoFi Hawai'i Bowl after leading UH to a 38-34 come-from-behind victory in which he threw for a career-high 492 yards.
Farris capped his four-year career by participating in the NFL Collegiate Bowl. Over his four-year career, the Coral Springs, Fla., native started 44 of 53 games and was a two-time honorable mention all-Mountain West selection. He had four career interceptions and was named to the team's Coach Bob Wagner Defensive Most Valuable Player in 2019.
Other notable Warriors gaining interest from scouts include receivers
JoJo Ward and
Cedric Byrd II, linebacker
Solomon Matautia and defensive lineman
Kaimana Padello.
