NOTES:
  • Last week...The Rainbow Wahine won their only match last week with a 6-1 win against Stetson. Hawai'i nearly swept the Hatters, winning the doubles point plus the first five singles matches. But UH fell in the last match of the day for the 6-1 victory. With Michelle Pits under the weather, UH's lineup was shuffled around a little with Madison Kim playing at No. 5 and Lea Romain playing on the No. 6 court. The first four singles matches that UH won were in straight sets. The last two were decided by third set, super tiebreakers for Satsuki Takamura at No. 2 and Lea Romain at No. 6. the win evened UH's overall record to 5-5 this year.
  • Hawai'i has had a power surge the past three home matches--four Rainbow Wahine have record three-straight singles wins that have propelled the 'Bows to three-consecutive win--Madison Kim, Bojana Markovic, Petra Melounova, and Satsuki Takamura all have gone undefeated to start their five match homestand.
  • Since returning to the No. 1 singles slot, Melounova has not disappointed. Last week she cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 win over Stetson's Danel Ashrirova. With her most recent three wins, Melounova continues to climb the all-time singles record list and is now at No. 20 with a 51-15 career record. This season, Meluonova is 5-4 in singles and 3-3 in doubles.
  • Takamura has taken over playing at No. 2 as of late and most recently she came back from being a set down to defeat Stetson's Lucie Renault, 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 (2) in a third set super tiebreaker with the match already decided. Takamura, a sophomore transfer from Pepperdine, leads UH this season with an overall record of 7-3.  In doubles, she has primarily played at No. 2 with partner Markovic. Together they have a 2-3 record.
  • Freshman Madison Kim is second on the team with a 7-4 overall record. She easily defeated Stetson's Laia Pasini, 6-3, 6-1 in UH's most recent match playing on the No. 5 court.
  • Since dropping down to No. 3, Markovic has rebounded winning four of six matches. Against Stetson, she battled Brooke Milner for a straight-set, 7-5, 6-3 win. Overall, Markovic, who is a junior transfer from Texas, is 5-6 in singles and 3-5 in doubles.
