’Bows Look For Bounce Back At Cal Poly

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. –  After having its four-game win streak snapped at UC Santa Barbara on Thursday, UH looks to get back on track with a meeting versus Cal Poly on Saturday, Feb. 8. Tipoff is 7:00 p.m. PT/5:00 p.m. HT at the Mott Athletic Center.

Game Story Lines
  • UH's 76-66 loss to the Gauchos dropped the Rainbow Warriors to 1-4 on the road this year.
  • Cal Poly, meanwhile, is 6-3 at Mott Gym and has won its last three home games.
  •  UH has won eight of the last 10 vs. Cal Poly, including a 65-61 win in Honolulu on January 16.
  • Despite the Rainbow Warriors loss on Thursday, they remain in sole possession of second place in the Big West, 1.5 games behind leader UC Irvine.
  • Junior point guard Drew Buggs is just two assists from tying and three assists from breaking the school's all-time assists record currently held by Troy Bowe (412). 
  • The Long Beach native leads the Big West and ranks 17th nationally at 6.4 apg. In the last four games he has 42 assists to seven turnovers. 
  • Following its game at Cal Poly, UH returns home for games vs. Long Beach State (Feb. 12) and UC Irvine (Feb. 15).

  • Cal Poly sits in a tie for seventh place in the Big West (3-5) following a 92-75 win over Long Beach State on Wednesday.
  • The Mustangs exploded for 51 points and out-scored the Beach by 15 points in the second half.
  • Sophomore guard Junior Ballard had 22 points in the win and leads CP at 12.9 ppg.
  • John Smith, former assistant at Cal State Fullerton, is in his first season at Cal Poly.
