SEATTLE - The University of Hawaii track and field team wrapped up the indoor season with the MPSF Championships in Seattle on Saturday. Over the two-day meet, junior
Kristen LaCosse broke the school record in the 60-meter dash and the 1,600-meter squad broke the 12-year old record by almost two full seconds.
On Friday, LaCosse finished 16th in the 60 prelims with a time of 7.63 seconds and freshman teammate
Jessica Eagle ran a top 10 time in Hawaii history with a 7.82 mark.
Also on Friday from the Dempsey Center,
Calli-Ann Abbott improved her score in the pentathlon which ranks sixth all-time at Hawaii and also the hurdle record for that event. Abbott 3,451 points over the five events, finishing eighth overall, and ran 8.68 in the 60-meter hurdles.
Freshman
Sophia Lodigiani debuted in the 5,000 meters with the school's fifth fastest time at 17:57.38. Junior
Hannah Gaskins recorded a top 10 mark in the pentathlon with 3,287 points and sophomore
Jada Pierce improved her ninth-best mark in the weight throw with a throw of 15.34 meters.
On Saturday, the 1,600-meter relay team of junior
Natasha Currence, LaCosse, freshman
Tierra Sydnor and senior
Teuila Gardner ran 3:50.77 to finish 13th overall.
Also on Saturday, Gaskins and Sydnor tied for the tenth highest high jump mark in school history with identical 1.66-meter leaps. Gardner also ran the sixth fastest 800-meter run time with a 2:13.83 finishing time.
