STANFORD, Calif. - The University of Hawai'i Rainbow sailing team finished in fouth place after winning the tiebreaker against Cal Maritime in a sail off at the 2020 Jeremy McIntyre Team Race this weekend in Northern California. 

Ten schools total completed a double round robin on Saturday and Sunday. Regatta host Stanford captured the regatta with a perfect 16-0 record followed by Stanford's B team, and UC Santa Barbara.

The 'Bows finished 9-7 on the weekend, with their only losses coming from Northwestern, Stanford and UC Santa Barbara. The breeze started out of the north at 4-6 then backed to the north-northwest and built to 8-10 with flat water and ripping current.
 
The UH skippers were Pelle Bergstrom, Owen Lahr, Bastien Rasse, and Patrick Wilkinson. Crew members for the 'Bows included Hayden Lahr, Chloe Long, Frances Tarpey-Schwed, and Devon Stapleton.  Five of eight of the Rainbow sailors are freshman.
 
Next up, the UH coed sailing team will compete in the only big boat regatta of the year, at the Port of LA Harbor Cup in Los Angeles, Calif. March 6-8.
