SAN DIEGO, Calif.--The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team battled from behind to defeat San Diego State, 4-3 on Wednesday at the Aztec Tennis Center. The win gave improved Hawai'i's record to 2-4 while the Aztecs fell to 4-3.
The Rainbow Wahine swept the doubles action to take an early 1-0 lead. UH's No. 3 team of
Rebecca Ehn and
Michelle Pits defeated SDSU's Nnena Nadozie and Abbie Mulberger, 6-3.
Bojana Markovic and
Satsuki Takamura then knocked off SDSU's Julia Jordan and Tamara Arnold on the No. 2 court, 6-3 to secure the doubles point.
The Aztecs quickly took a 2-1 lead winning on the No. 5 and No. 2 courts. But UH's Markovic evened the match at 2-2.
Madison Kim then gave UH the lead with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Abbi Muberger. Takamura then clinched the match, 4-3 defeating Tamara Arnold in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2 on the No. 1 court.
UH remains on the road and will take on No. 19 USC on Saturday at the Aztec Tennis Center at 7:00 a.m.
