SAN DIEGO, Calif.--The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (1-4, 0-0 Big West) continues its tour of southern California as they remain on the road to take on San Diego State on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 12.00 p.m. HT and the No. 19 USC on Feb. 21 at 7:00 a.m. HT at SDSU's Aztec Tennis Center.
The Rainbow Wahine opened their roadtrip falling in a heartbreaker at San Diego, 4-3. Hawai'i won the doubles point and the match was tied at 3-3 when USD's Kati Kukararas held off UH's
Madison Kim, 7-6 (4), 7-5 to clinch the win. In the loss, UH's
Satsuki Takamura, who is ranked at No. 119 in the ITA poll, knocked off 111th-ranked Gemma Garcia on the No. 2 court in a hard fought straight set win, 6-4, 6-4. She and partner
Bojana Markovic clinched the doubles point with a 7-6 (8) victory over San Diego's Daniela Morales/Maria Tyrina on the No. 2 court.
Overall, senior
Michelle Pits continues to lead UH with an overall record of 5-2. She is 4-2 in dual matches. In doubles
Nikola Dolakova leads the team with a 3-2 overall record. She is 2-1 in dual matches both played at No. 1. Currently,
Rebecca Ehn,
Petra Melounova, Markkovic, and Takamura all have two doubles wins apiece.
