HONOLULU--The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team (4-4) has been on a roll, winning four of their last five dual matches--most recently including a two-match sweep over St. Mary's (Calif.) last week. This week, the Rainbow Warriors will take on Washington in a dual match on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 3:00 p.m. at the UH Tennis Complex. It will mark the first ever match televised by Spectrum Sports.
After starting the season at 0-3, the Rainbow Warriors have been playing well and the momentum, winning four of their last five dual matches with their one loss during that span, coming on the road at host UNLV in the Las Vegas Invitational. Most recently, the 'Bows dominated in two matches against St. Mary's 5-2 and 6-1. For his efforts against the Gaels, sophomore
Andre Ilagan earned his second career Big West Athlete of the Week award last week. He was a perfect 4-0 recording two wins playing No. 1 singles and two wins at No. 1 doubles. The two wins over the Gaels were the first home wins for first-year head coach Joel Kusnierz--ironically over his alma mater, St. Mary's. Ilagan twice defeated James Watt, 6-2, 6-4 on the first day, and 6-4, 6-1 the second day.In doubles, Ilagan paired with
Lucas Labrunie for a couple of wins over the Saint Mary's tandem of Watt and Boris Reckow. The UH duo edged out the opposing pair on day one, winning a tiebreaker by a 7-6 (3) score. In the rematch the UH duo defeated Watt and Reckow, 6-2. In dual matches, Ilagan is now 4-3 in singles and 5-2 in doubles for the year.

Chia-Hua Lu together have a 5-1 record playing on the No. 3 court.
