Game Story Lines

• UH will tipoff its 2020-2021 season by hosting fellow O'ahu resident HPU on Sunday. The Rainbow Wahine currently holds a 10-0 record against the Sharks all-time.

• A year ago, in an exhibition to start the season for both teams, UH pushed past HPU 76-71, marking the narrowest win in terms of point margin for the 'Bows. Julissa Tago scored a game-high 23 points in the victory, while Amy Atwell added 15 points, hitting three-of-seven from beyond the three-point line.

• The 'Bows and Sharks first played each other in 1982 and played every season up till 1986, including in 1984 when the two schools played each other three times in a season. The series took a halt for 28 years, restarting again in 2014.

• Throughout the series, the two teams have played all but one game away from UH; the lone game at HPU came in 1984.

• While both seasons were cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, each program had high aspirations for what could have been in terms of postseason tournament success. UH knocked off Cal State Fullerton in the Big West Conference tournament quarterfinals with a favorable road to the championship game. HPU was doing the same thing in the Pac West tournament, building on a current win streak of 26 games.

• It's a new look roster for head coach Laura Beeman and UH this season with nine newcomers. Six true freshman and three transfers round out the roster with six returners.
