Parapunov, Worsley Honored By Big West With Weekly Awards

IRVINE, Calif. – University of Hawai'i opposite Rado Parapunov and libero Gage Worlsey were selected as the Big West Conference's Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, after helping the Rainbow Warriors to a pair of wins over Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association opponents over the weekend.
 
Parapunov averaged 5.75 kills per set on .330 hitting in UH's wins over then-No. 5 Lewis and then-No. 12 Loyola. He topped 20 kills in each match including a career-high 24 in the win over Loyola. One night earlier, the Sofia, Bulgaria native posted 22 kills and 10 digs against Lewis for his second career double-double. Parapunov also served up six aces in the two matches and averaged 1.75 digs and 1.13 blocks per set.
 
Worsley earned defensive player of the week honors after averaging 3.00 digs per set over the weekend. The Moraga, Calif., native posted double-figure totals in each match, including 13 in the opener against the Flyers. Worsley also tallied 11 digs against the Ramblers.
 
The award is Parapunov's eighth of his career and Worsley's third.
 
In addition, Worsley was selected as the Off the Block's Libero of the Week, the third such honor of his career.
