Weinman Foundation Invitational Day 2

Women's Tennis

Women's Tennis Hosts No. 14 Washington, No. 16 Florida State

HONOLULU--The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team will take on two powerhouse teams this week in a pair of dual matches at the UH Tennis Complex. The Rainbow Wahine will take on 14th-ranked Washington (3-0) on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 3:00 p.m. followed by 16th-ranked Florida State (0-0) on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 10:00 a.m.

The Rainbow Wahine are coming off a solid performance in the rain-soaked Weinman Foundation Invitational this past week. The 'Bows won nine of 13 singles matches--highlighted by Petra Melounova knocking off No. 113 Melissa Ates of Washington State in straight sets. Hawai'i is led into this week's matches by their two ranked players--newcomers No. 91 Bojana Markovic and No. 113(T) Satsuki Takamura. Markovic split her singles matches. UH rookie Madison Kim made her collegiate debut as being the only Rainbow Wahine to win both of her singles matches. She knocked off BYU's Helen Jiao, 6-1, 6-3 and Washington State's Jovana Knezevic, 6-0, 6-2.

It is the eighth-straight season that the Huskies have come to play the Rainbow Wahine in Honolulu. UW is 10-2 all-time against the Rainbow Wahine. For the Seminoles, it is their second trip to Honolulu. In 2018, FSU came to Honolulu to compete in the Rainbow Wahine Invitational.
