Women's Sailing

Rainbow Sailors Open Season At Singlehanded Championship

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.– The University of Hawai'i coed and women's sailing teams opened the 2019-20 season with the PCCSC Men's and Women's Singlehanded Championships, hosted by UCSB.

The PCCSC Singlehandeds were sailed over the course of two days with the men sailing nine races and the women sailing seven on Saturday. The breeze was coming from the southwest at 5-7 knots and pressure increased all day.

Freshman Bastien Rasse (71 points) finished in fifth place, with his best scores coming on Saturday. He had a strong start to his collegiate sailing career with two third place-finishes and and won the third race of the day. Senior Patrick Wilkinson (128) finished the weekend in 11th place out of 13 sailors.

Making their college sailing debut, freshmen Adeline Ruiz (33) and Olivia Klotz (39) represented the Rainbow Wahine and finished third and and fourth, respectively.

The coed and Rainbow Wahine teams will be back in Californian waters this weekend, Oct. 5-6 for the PCCSC Match Race Championship hosted by Stanford in Redwood City, Calif.
