HONOLULU—University of Hawai'i head women's volleyball coach Robyn Ah Mow announced that setter Bailey Choy is transferring home to play her final season as a Rainbow Wahine.
 
Choy played her first three seasons at Utah. She is the eighth newcomer on the 2019 women's volleyball roster. Choy will join Hawai'i's five incoming freshmen and two transfers from Oregon when practice starts up in August.
 
"We are beyond thrilled to have an athlete of Bailey's caliber join our Rainbow Wahine 'ohana," says Ah Mow. "Bailey is a quick, athletic setter who has the ability to better every touch she makes. She comes to Manoa after completing three standout seasons at Utah where she guided the team to three-consecutive NCAA tournament appearances. Bailey's volleyball IQ, competitive demeanor and experience will add great competition and depth to the setting position immediately."

Choy, who is currently completing her undergraduate degree at Utah, is a former local prep standout who will return home to complete her Master's Degree at the University of Hawai'i's Shidler College of Business. Choy has one year of eligibility left.
 
Choy has been the starting setter for the Utes for the past three seasons. In her career, she has started 99 matches while dishing out 3,254 career assists with 860 digs and 47 total blocks. Choy has also recorded 88 career service aces. Last season as a junior, Choy led Utah with 1,096 assists (8.56 per set). She also posted a team-high 48 service aces and 17 double-doubles to go with 325 digs and 14 total blocks. Against Temple (9/8/18), Choy posted a career-high 57 assists. Choy has also excelled in the classroom, twice earning Pac-12 All-Academic second team honors as a sophomore and a junior.
 
A four-year letterwinner at 'Iolani School, Choy earned lots of accolades after her senior season. She was named a Hawaii Fab 15 selection, the Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH) Division I Player of the Year and was named the Hawaii Gatorade Player of the Year. As a senior, she recorded 574 assists, 197 digs and 15 service aces, leading the Raiders (17-3) to the Division I state final in 2015.
