LONG BEACH, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team will play for an NCAA Championship Saturday, May 4 when it faces host Long Beach State at the Walter Pyramid. The Rainbow Warriors (28-2) are seeking their first national championship and first for any UH team since the coed sailing team captured the ICSA Championship in 2004. Hawai'i's last NCAA title was the 1987 women's volleyball championship.
The championship is scheduled for Saturday, May 4 and will be televised nationally on ESPN2 at 2:00 p.m. HT. The match can also be heard live on ESPN Honolulu (92.7FM & 1420AM) with Tiff Wells on the call.

- Hawai'i (28-2) is making its third national championship appearance and first since 2002. UH, which also played for the national title in 1996, is 1-1 in title matches. (UH vacated 2002 title).
- UH and Long Beach State have played three times this season, all in five sets, with the Beach winning two of three. Hawai'i won the last meeting, April 20, in Honolulu for the Big West Tournament title.
- UH's 28 wins is the most in program history.
- In head-to-head meetings between UH coach Charlie Wade and LBSU coach Alan Knipe, the 49ers lead 12-6. However, the coaches are 2-2 in the postseason (2015 MPSF quarters-UH; 2017 MPSF finals,-LBSU; 2018 BW finals-LBSU; 2019 BW finals-UH).
- The teams have met six times in the postseason with each team winning three times. Four of those meetings were held in Honolulu (2002-UH; 2005-LBSU; 2015-UH; 2019-UH). The Beach won both meetings in Long Beach (2017 MPSF finals and 2018 Big West finals).
- The last UH team to play for a national title was the 2002 men's volleyball team (vs. Pepperdine in University Park, Pa.).
