HONOLULU – The No. 6 University of Hawai'i beach volleyball team will have its final homestand of the season this weekend, beginning with the First Foundation Queens Cup Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14 in Waikīkī. The SandBows (18-7) were idle this past week and will be in action for the first time in nearly two weeks when it hosts Washington, San Jose State and No. 14 Loyola Marymount in a round-robin tournament at Queen's Beach.
Following the tournament, the Rainbow Wahine will host Washington in its final home dual match of 2019 at the T.C. Ching Complex on Monday, April 15. The match will start at 4:00 p.m. with the top two flights starting play at 7:00 p.m., live on Spectrum Sports. Following that match, UH's four seniors –
Angel Gaskin,
Ari Homayun,
Hi'ilawe Huddleston, and
Emily Maglio – will be honored as part of Senior Night festivities.
UH is back home after playing its last 11 dual matches on the mainland. In its last time outing, the SandBows won five of six matches at the Big West Challenge at Pismo Beach, March 30-31. UH won all of its matches by a 5-0 count, including an impressive sweep of No. 9 Long Beach State.UH, however, looks to bounce back after falling to host and No. 7 Cal Poly, 3-2, in the tournament finale.
UH Versus This Week's Opponents: The SandBows are a combined 12-1 (.923) versus this week's opponents…UH defeated Washington twice in last year's Queen's Cup, including a 5-0 win in the title match… UH won the first and only meeting with San Jose State, 5-0, in Honolulu in 2015…UH is 9-1 all-time against LMU and have played the Lions every season since the inaugural 2012 season…the SandBows have won seven straight against LMU dating back to 2014.
Martin & Napoleon on Fire: Morgan Martin, a junior from Mission Viejo, Calif., and Napoleon, a redshirt freshman from Bonita, Calif. , have gone a perfect 16-0 since first being paired together at the No. 3 spot on March 16. They have done it in dominating fashion, not dropping a single set and setting a new school mark with 32 straight sets won. Meanwhile, the 16-match win streak is the fourth longest in school history.

Ari Homayun became the school's all-time wins leader, surpassing former teammates
Ka'iwi Schucht and Nikki Taylor. The senior now has 107 wins during her four-year career. She is joined in the Top 10 by two other current Sandbows in
Emily Maglio (104 -2nd) and
Morgan Martin (77 - 8th).
