HONOLULU--The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team (7-8, 1-0 Big West) returns home to host its final two home matches of the season. The Rainbow Warriors will take on UC Irvine (11-5, 0-1 BWC) on Saturday, April 6 at 3:00 p.m. followed by UC Riverside (17-10, 0-0 BWC) on Sunday, April 7 at 12:00 p.m. Both matches will be played at the UH Tennis Complex. Sunday's match vs. UC Riverside will be Senior Day for two Rainbow Warriors--
Eric Kenneth and
Asad Siyyid.
The Rainbow Warriors are led by two players who have 10 singles wins under their belts--
Andre Ilagan and
Lucas Labrunie. Playing at No. 1 for majority of the season, the rookie Ilagan has recorded 10-4 dual match record which is the most wins by a UH player since the 2014 season at the No. 1 position passing Jonathan Brooklyn. Ilagan has won five of his last seven matches. Labrunie, a sophomore playing at No. 2, has a 10-7 overall record and an 9-6 dual match record. Labrunie has won his last four-straight singles matches. Blaz Seric has won his last five decisions--including the clinching match at UC Davis on Tuesday. Seric has been playing on the No. 3 court and now has an overall record of 8-7 on the season.
In doubles, UH's No. 1 duo of Ilagan and Labrunie have combined for a 5-3 record overall. In duals, they are 4-3. UH's No. 2 team of Seric and Simao Telo Alves have posted a team-best record of 5-2.
