RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The University of Hawaiʻi baseball team was handed a 16-5 defeat by UC Riverside on the road at the Riverside Sports Complex on Friday night in game one of the three-game set.

Hawaiʻi (13-18, 3-4 Big West), playing its first Big West road game of the season, saw the Highlanders (10-21, 2-5 Big West) jump out to an 8-0 lead through the first four innings and never looked back.

After the 'Bows got on the board with an RBI single from Brennen Hancock in the top of the fifth, UC Riverside bounced back with seven more runs in the bottom of the frame to create separation.

Freshman Daniel Crasnick, who entered the game as a pinch hitter, knocked an RBI single. Fellow freshman Dallas Duarte picked up a pair of hits on Friday, while Hancock, Logan Pouelsen and Tyler Best all drove in runs for Hawaiʻi.
