AUSTIN, Tex.—The second day of competition at the NCAA Championships at the Lee & Joel Jamail Texas Swimming Center on the campus of the University of Texas, was the first day of events for the University of Hawai'i men's swimming team on Thursday.

Senior
Metin Aydin notched a season-best in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:43.32, edging out his qualifying mark of 1:43.93. His season-best narrowly missed the cut for the championship race as he finished at No. 18 overall, missing the 16th spot by just a few tenths of a second.

In his first appearance and the first event of the championships, junior
Kane Follows also competed in the 200 IM, touching the wall at 1:46.49, eclipsing his qualifying mark of 1:46.58.

Aydin's day was not done as he teamed up with juniors
Olli Kokko and
Mateusz Chaba, as well as sophomore
Franz Adam in the 400 medley relay. UH finished at 3:07.75 for No. 23 overall, besting the foursomes previous season best of 3:09.55. The medley relay marked the first time UH had a relay team at the NCAA Championships since 2004.

The Rainbow Warriors will be back in action tomorrow with all six student-athletes competing on the third day of events.
