Austin, Texas.—The University of Hawai'i women's swimming and diving team will have its season come to an end this week on the largest stage of college athletics with the NCAA Championships at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center on the campus of the University of Texas from Mar. 20-23.
The Rainbow Wahine will have three student-athletes competing in this year's events with junior long-distance swimmer
Phoebe Hines leading the way in her second consecutive appearance on the national stage. Hines enters at No. 1 in the country in the 1650 freestyle event with a time of 15:41.35. She'll also compete in the 500 freestyle, where she ranked at No. 17, and the 200 freestyle.
Last season Hines received Honorable- Mention All-American status from her 12th place finish in the 1650 free event. She also competed in the 500 free a year ago but did not make it past the prelims.
Joining Hines are sophomores
Karolina Hajkova and
Ivy Houser. Hajkova, a member of the Slovakian Swimming National Team, will be making her first career appearance in the NCAAs as she'll compete in both the 100 and 200 backstroke. Houser will also be making her national championship debut as she'll be a part of the platform dive. On the final day of the Zone E Championships, Houser qualified for the NCAAs finishing at No. 9 in the event.
For the women's championships, ESPN will provide live linear coverage for Friday and Saturday finals on ESPNU, as well as, digital coverage on ESPN3 for Wednesday and Thursday evening finals.
