WAIKOLOA, Hawai'i – After two rounds of the 28
thAmer Ari Invitational, the University of Hawai'i men's golf team sits in 18
thplace. The Rainbow Warriors shot a second round 306 Friday at the Waikoloa Beach Resort Kings' Course.
Top-ranked Oklahoma State (540) continues to lead the tournament, which is co-hosted by sister schools UH and UH Hilo and is widely considered one of the top collegiate events of the year. The defending national champions hold a five-stroke lead over No. 14 Texas (545) entering Saturday's third and final round.
Individually, Texas' Cole Hammer has a one-stroke lead over Oregon's Edwin Yi and USC's Justin Suh. Hammer fired a second round 64 and is 13-under 131 for the tourney. The nation's top golfer Matt Wolff also shot 64 and is two strokes behind Hammer along with three others.
The low man of the day for UH was sophomore
Justin Arcano. The Wailuku, Maui native shot 3-over 75 and is 9-over 153 for the tourney. Senior
Cameron Kaneko carded a 76 for a 150 total and is tied for 90
th.
Sophomore
Justin Ngan carded a 77 and is 7-over 151 while sophomore
Cole Yoshida shot 78 for a 152 total. Junior
Nick Nelson posted 78 and is tied with Arcano at 153.
Four UH golfers are competing as individuals led by junior
Trevor Hirata (79, 150). Also competing are senior
Bryden Salvador (73, 156), freshman
AJ Teraoka (81, 170), and sophomore Matt Lloyd (89, 173).
The tournament continues on Saturday with a 7:30 a.m., shotgun start.
