Rainbow Sailors Finish Third At Stanford Team Race

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - The University of Hawai'i Rainbow sailing team finished third at the 2019 McIntyre Team Race, Feb. 23-24, hosted by Stanford in Northern California.

On Saturday the 'Bows finished third in head-to-head action, behind eventual regatta champion Stanford (15-1) and UC Santa Barbara (14-2). Ten schools total completed a single round robin on Saturday with 5-13 knots of wind.

On Sunday the fleet was split in half into gold and silver divisions.  The 'Bows finished 2-2 in the gold division and advanced into the championship round of final four where the 'Bows finished 1-2 with a win against Cal Maritime.

The 'Bows finished an impressive 10-6 on the weekend with their only losses coming to Stanford and UC Santa Barbara.

The UH skippers were Mathew Butler, Michael Pacholski, and Patrick Wilkinson. Crew members for the 'Bows included Danielle Ahir, Sophie Deming, Annika Garrett, and Devon Stapleton.

Next up, the UH coed sailing team will compete in the St. Francis Invite in San Francisco, March 30-31.
