MISSION VIEJO, Calif.—As the University of Hawai'i swimmers started strong on the first day with stellar relay performances of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships; the divers showcased their ability on the second day of competition and the first day of diving.
Both the men's and women's team notched first-place finishes as well as having two divers in the top three positions. For the women junior,
Jami Stone walked away as the No. 1 in the women's one-meter dive finishing first after the preliminary round and the championship round with a final score of 307.25. Teammate, redshirt senior
Monica Gavaris added more points the Rainbow Wahine team score with a third-place finish at 287.10.
The Rainbow Warriors took first and second in the men's three-meter as freshman
Max Burman left his mark on the event with a final score of 421.80. Entering the championship round, Burman was slotted at the No. 3 behind teammate, senior
Johan Sandell and Bryce Farabee of Bringham Young, but surpassed them both with his final handful of dives. Sandell stayed consistent notching scores of over 400 in both rounds but finished second behind Burman.
As a team UH leads the pack at 126 to BYU sitting at No. 2 with a score of 116. The Warriors lead the men's side with a score of 72.00, 16 points higher than BYU, while the women are just six points behind BYU in second-place at 60.00-54.00. The dives will be flipped for tomorrow as the women will compete in the three-meter, and the men going head-to-head in the one-meter.

LA MIRADA, CALIF.—The swimming portion of the University of Hawai'i swimming and diving squad continued to challenge the field of competition on the second day of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships on Thursday.
The women remain in first-place overall, adding to their lead of 281 to 234 over the current second place squad, UC Davis. Junior
Phoebe Hines finished first in the 500 free with a time of 4:38.50, just a few tenths of a second off her season best of 4:38.11.
Earlier in the day the 200 free relay squad had a dramatic finish as seniors
Kasey Schmidt and
Bryndis Hansen, paired up with sophomores
Lucia Lassman and
Karolina Hajkova for a time of 1:31.79. UCD took the event at 1:31.65.
For the men, senior
Metin Aydin and junior
Kane Follows finished one and two in the 200 individual medley. Aydin eclipsed his previous best in the event of 1:46.71 with a time of 1:44.15 in the championship round. Follows did the same as Aydin in the event, surpassing his previous best in the event with a time of 1:46.58.
After the first day the men were in a tie with UC Santa Barbara, but after the second day of events, the Rainbow Warriors find themselves slotted at the No. 1 spot ahead of the Gauchos 297.5-234.
