HONOLULU – The No. 1-ranked University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team open the 2020 season with a pair of non-conference matches against Charleston (W.Va.), Friday, Jan. 3 and Saturday, Jan. 4 at the Stan Sheriff Center. Both matches start at 7:00 p.m. The Rainbow Warriors will put a 17-match home win streak on the line against the Golden Eagles, who compete in the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association.

Game Storylines:
- UH is 32-9 all-time in season-openers including an 8-2 mark under head coach Charlie Wade. The Warriors have won six straight season-openers dating back to 2014.
- This week's matches mark the first-ever meeting between the teams. Charleston fielded its first team in 2015 and joined the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association in 2016.
- UH completed a record-breaking season in 2019 with a national runner-up finish and a 28-3 final mark while the Golden Eagles went 9-20 including a 1-13 record in EIVA play.
- UH begins the season ranked No. 1 nationally for the fourth time in program history however it marks the first time as the preseason poll favorite since the AVCA created the preseason poll in 2007. Prior to that, the Warriors earned the No. 1 ranking in the first poll of the season in 1989, 1996, and 2003.
- Hawai'i has a current home win streak of 17 with its last loss April 13, 2018 against Long Beach State. The Warriors won all 16 home matches last season and are 46-4 at the Stan Sheriff Center since the start of the 2017 season.
- Wade begins his 11th season as head coach with a career record of 181-108.
