Hawai‘i Matches Up with Premier Programs at Art Adamson Invitational

College Station, Tex.—The University of Hawai'i swimming and diving team competed on the first of three days in the Art Adamson Invitational as both the men's and women's team placed in the middle of the pack of the standings.

Both squads placed at No. 4 overall as the men's team accounted for a score of 166, while the women's team tallied 112. Each of the two teams are within striking distance of third place, and the men are in a position to make a push for second overall position, depending on how the next two days unfold.

Friday will provide another day of events where UH will aim to make an impact on the field, including relay events, and key single events. Prelims will start at 10 a.m. CT and carry on throughout the day.

Swimming:

Senior long-distance swimmer Phoebe Hines finished at No. 4 in the 500 free with a time of 4:15.05. The ranking was the highest finish of the day between the two teams for an individual performance.

The four-man relay team of senior Mateusz Chaba, along with juniors Micah Masei, Adam Franz, and 'aukai Lileikis finished at No. 3 in the 200 free at 1:18.83. The final time of the foursome was an improvement of three seconds from nearly a month ago in the tri-meet at the University of Arizona.

Diving:

As expected, sophomore Max Burman turned in an impressive showing in the three-meter dive. Burman scored a 354.90 in the finals, landing him at No. 4 overall against a stacked group of competitors.
