Game Notes-
UH is coming off one of its most significant wins in recent memory with a 2-1 overtime win against CSUN on Oct. 3. It marked the first time since joining the Big West in 2012; UH started off conference play with a win.

Sophomore forward Kayla Ryan provided the offense for UH netting both goals in the contest. It was Ryan's first start of the season, her first career goal, first career game-winner, and she played a career-high in minutes with 61.

The win for the Bows ties them with Cal State Fullerton and UC Santa Barbara with a 1-0 record in the Big West, linking the three squads at the second place position. The only school above them in the standings is UC Irvine at 2-0.

The Anteaters knocked off both UC Riverside and UC Davis at home to begin their conference schedule. The opening match with UC Riverside went to overtime, with UCI prevailing, 1-0.

UCI was picked to finished where they ended 2018 in the No. 3 spot of the preseason standings. Last year the Anteaters posted an 8-7-4 record overall while going 4-1-3 against conference opponents.

The historic side between UH and UCI heavily favors the Anteaters. After a 1-0 overtime loss at UCI last season, UH fell to 1-8-1 in the record book. Currently, UCI holds a four-match win streak over UH. The lone win came in 2014 in Irvine, by a score of 1-0. UH has never won or tied with UCI when playing on O'ahu. In the series history, UCI holds an 18-7 scoring advantage, including four shutouts.

HARDWARE FOR THE MANTEL: Through the first half of the season, UH has made its mark on the Big West weekly awards. Alexis Mata was named defensive player of the week back on Sept. 2, and Kayla Ryan was tabbed as Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 7. Mata has been appointed with the weekly award five times in her career, while Ryan received the honor for the first time in her career.

HIT HER WITH YOUR BEST SHOT: Alexis Mata enters conference play by setting the pace for all goalkeepers with 56 saves. Her career-high in saves was set back in 2017 as a redshirt sophomore with 96. In 2019, she has recorded three shutouts and ranks No. 1 in the Big West with a .789 save percentage.

WRONG SIDE OF HISTORY: After losing the programs top three leading scorers for 2018, the 2019 squad has only been able to score seven goals through the first 10 matches. The least amount of goals scored in one season for the 'Bows was in the inaugural season of 1994 with 12 in 11 matches. The modern era of UH soccer with 17 or more matches in a season provided a low mark of goals at 15, a line set just two years ago in 2017.
