REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow sailing team finished in second place at the PCCSC Match Race Championship, hosted by Stanford, Oct. 5. This is the best finish for UH in a the event's five-year history.
A total of five schools competed in the regatta with freshman Owen Lahr skippering, sophomore Devon Stapleton and senior Patrick Wilkinson serving as crew for UH. The regatta was sailed in a double round-robin format.
Lahr was the only freshman skipper at the event and the Rainbows went 5-3 with him at the helm. The only losses of the weekend were to Cal Maritime and host Stanford, who went on to win the event and earn a berth to the ICSA Match Race Nationals.
