Water Polo Announces 2020 Schedule

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i women's water polo team announced its 2020 schedule, unveiling a total of 21 matches that includes seven played at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.

The Rainbow Wahine kickoff the 2020 season at home for the third consecutive season, playing host to Loyola Marymount and Fresno State on Saturday, Jan. 18 and Marist on Jan. 19 in the Rainbow Invitational.

UH will take part in its first road trip of the season, traveling to Tempe, Ariz. to compete in five games at the ASU Cross Conference Challenge. Hawai'i will battle Cal State East Bay on Jan. 31 before playing four games in two days. UH begins the first of two double headers against Arizona State and Azusa Pacific on Feb. 1. The Rainbow Wahine close the tournament against Ottawa (Ariz.) and Princeton on Feb. 2.

Hawai'i will have a 17 day break before they travel back to the mainland to take on Azusa Pacific for the second time on Wednesday, Feb. 19. The Rainbow Wahine will have a quick turnaround, participating at the Barbara Kalbus Invitational from Feb. 21-23 in Irvine, Calif. Seeding is based on Collegiate Water Polo Association rankings in tournament week and is a bracket format. Across the three-day tournament composed of top-ranked squads, UH played four matches a year ago, going 3-1 for fifth place.

UH will make a quick pit stop at UC San Diego on Mar. 13 in La Jolla, Calif. before competing in San Diego State's Aztec Invitational from Mar. 14-15.

After nearly two months away from the DKAC, the Rainbow Wahine will have a four-game homestand that features matches against USC (Mar. 19), Long Beach State (Mar. 21), UC Irvine (Mar. 27) and UC Davis (Apr. 4).

UH closes out the regular season on the road, making trips to UC Santa Barbara (Apr. 10) and CSUN (Apr. 11).

Hawai'i will host the 2020 Big West Championships at the friendly confines of the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex from Apr. 23-25. The NCAA Championships will be hosted by Pacific (Calif.) from May 8-10.
