MALIBU, Calif.—The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team completed Day 2 of the  ITA Southwest Regional Championships at the Ralph-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu, Calif.
 
In the Main Singles Draw, Hawai'i sophomore Andre Ilagan fell in the round of 32 to Enrique Luque Rico. Ilagan took the first set, but Luque Rico pulled away in the final two sets to advance, 5-7, 6-2, 6-1.
 
In the consolation rounds, the Rainbow Warriors played very tough with three players advancing into tomorrow's quarterfinal round. The two Labrunie brothers and Simao Telo Alves all won two matches on Friday to survive.  Lucas Labrunie  defeated Leo Andreolli from Grand Canyon, 6-3, 6-1. Lucas Labrunie then cruised past UCLA's Max Wild in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3. Axel Labrunie breezed past UC Irvine's Antoine Barthe, 6-2, 6-2. The younger Labrunie then took on teammate Chia-Hua Lu, who advanced to the Round of 16 when Laurent Magne from Grand Canyon withdrew. Axel Labrunie held off Lu by a break in both sets, 6-4, 7-5.  Alves defeated Julian Mueller, 7-5, 6-3. Alves then knocked off USC's Rae Lan, 7-6(4), 6-1.
