SAN FRANCISCO – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow coed team placed fourth and the Rainbow Wahine placed 14th at the 30th Annual Stoney Burke Intersectional held Oct. 12-13 in Clipper Cove off of Treasure Island in the San Francisco Bay.
In all, 24 teams representing 19 schools competed in the regatta. Winds were light and steady on Saturday, before building up to 12 to 15 knots on Sunday afternoon. A total of 22 races—11 each in the A and B divisions—were completed over the weekend. UCSB won the regatta for the second straight year with 47 points with UH finishing 69 points of the pace with 116. The UH coed team was guided by
Patrick Wilkinson and
Frances Tarpey-Schwed in the A Division, while
Bastien Rasse and
Devon Stapleton sailed in the B Division.
The Rainbow Wahine scored a total of 282 points in divisions A and B.
Hayden Lahr and
Isabelle Anderson sailed in the A Division, while,
Kahala Furukawa and and
Megan Lucas competed in the B Division.
Next up, the coed team will compete in the PCCSC Fall Dinghy Championships, Nov. 16-17 in Santa Barbara, while the women head for San Luis Obispo for the PCCSC Women's Fall Championship, Oct. 26-27.
