HONOLULU – Former University of Hawai'i men's volleyball standout and current Rainbow Warrior assistant coach
Josh Walker is this year's recipient of the Pae Makaukau Alumni Recognition Award. Walker will receive his award at the 9
thAnnual A'o a Koa Scholarship Dinner, Sunday, January 27 at the Stan Sheriff Center.
The dinner supports the men's volleyball program. Past winners include Sivan Leoni (2018), Mark Presho (2017), Allen Allen (2016), Brian Beckwith (2015),
Tom Pestolesi (2014), Manny Relator (2013), Mauli'a LaBarre (2012), and Pono Ma'a (2011).
Proceeds from the event will be used to help fund the summer school scholarships, recruiting, video equipment and additional/camp staff for Rainbow Warrior Volleyball. The event also features a silent auction with sports memorabilia, travel, golf, hotel and event ticket packages, dinner certificates and other great items.
A former outside hitter for the Rainbow Warriors from 2007-11, Walker finished his four-year career with 1,428 kills (3.91 k/s) which ranks fifth in program history. He was named to the AVCA All-America second team in 2010 and to the all-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation second team in 2011.
After graduating from UH in 2011, Walker played professionally overseas in Greece, Denmark, Finland, and the United Arab Emirates. In 2014-15 he was an All-Star in the Finland Volleyball League and also earned MVP honors during his time spent in Denmark in 2014.
Walker is currently in his fourth season as an assistant coach.

Charlie Wade and his staff and the current Rainbow Warrior volleyball team. In addition to Walker the coaching staff includes sixth-year associate coach
Milan Zarkovicand second-year volunteer coach
Chad Giesseman.
