NAPA, Calif.—The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team competed on Day 2 of the Silverado Invitational in Napa, Calif. The Rainbow Warriors once again won both their doubles matches while
Blaz Seric was lone Hawai'i player to win on the singles court.
Today, the 'Bows took on Pepperdine in doubles and Liberty in singles.
In doubles, Hawai'i's duo of Seric and
Asad Siyyid paired up to down Pepperdine's Pawel Jankowiak and Enrique Luque Rico, 8-5. UH's other doubles pairing of
Lucas Labrunie and
Andre Ilagan blanked the Waves' Matias Sborowitz and Scotland Garapedian, 8-0.
On the singles side, Seric held off Liberty's Josh Wilson in a hard fought battle. Seric hung on in the first set to win by tie-breaker, and then had one break in the second set for the win, 7-6(5), 6-4. Siyyid fell just short, dropping his match to Chase Burton by a break in both sets, 4-6, 5-7. The other two matches both went three sets. UH's rookie Ilagan won the first set via tiebreaker, but fell in the last two sets, 7-6 (5), 4-6, 3-6. Labrunie faced Liberty's Ian Sturgil. Sturgil won the first set, but Labrunie evened things at a set apiece. But Sturgis pulled away in the third for the win, 5-7, 7-5, 2-6.
