SAN FRANCISCO – The University of Hawai'i coed and women's sailing teams opened the 2018-19 season with the PCCSC Men's and Women's Singlehanded championships, hosted by the University of California.
The PCCSC Singlehandeds were sailed to the east of the Treasure Island Sailing Center. Ten races were completed on Saturday, and the regatta was finished in one day. Winds were blowing a steady 13-15 knots during the day.
Michael Pacholski (59 points) and
Patrick Wilkinson (75) represented the UH men and finished 6th and 8th, respectively, in the 12-member field. Stanford's John Kirkpatrick captured the regatta with 14 points.
Making their college sailing debut, freshmen
Hayden Lahr (67) and
Devon Stapleton (79) represented the Rainbow Wahine and finished 7th and 8th, respectively.
The coed and Rainbow Wahine teams will be back in Californian waters Oct. 13-14 for the Stoney Burke Intersectional in San Francisco.
