Women’s Soccer Drops Season Opener To Texas A&M, 4-0

WAIPAHU, O'ahu – The University of Hawai'i women's soccer team fell to 11th-ranked Texas A&M, 4-0, on the opening day of the Outrigger Soccer Kickoff at Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium.

The Aggies (1-0) over-powered the Rainbow Wahine (0-1) with a 15-2 advantage on shots including 8-0 on goal. TAMU led 3-0 at the half.

UH threatened four minutes into the match as freshman Daelenn Tokunaga missed a wide open net, hitting the left bar. The Aggies responded and got on the scoreboard first as Brittany Crabtree capitalized on UH keeper Alexis Mata's ball-handling error for the easy goal.

Crabtree struck again on a header in the 25thminute off Kendall Ritchie's free kick. Just before the half, the Aggies tacked on another goal as Rheagen Smith made it 3-0.

The teams were even in the second half until Jordan Hill's shot found the back of the net in the 73rdminute for a 4-0 lead.

In the opening match of the tournament, Loyola Marymount and Bowling Green played to a 1-1 draw. LMU's Sarina Bolden scored five minutes into the match and the BGSU evened the score with a goal by Nikki Cox in the 50thminute. The Falcons out-shot the Lions, 9-6.
