NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – University of Hawai'i track and field sophomore Call-Ann Abbott wrapped up the first Rainbow Wahine postseason competition on Saturday at CSUN's Matador Track & Field Complex, finishing fifth in the Big West Multi-Events Championships.
Competing in her second Big West heptathlon, Abbott continued a solid performance from the first day, also in fifth, running 92 points ahead of last year's start with a 2,977-point opening day. In that process, Abbott set new personal bests in the high jump with a 4-11.75 (1.52m) and the 200m at 25.77. She also recorded a 14.48 in the 100m hurdles and 36-6.25 (11.13m) in the shot put.
On Saturday in Northridge, Abbott added another 1,877 points to her total for a fifth-place final score of 4,844 – topping her own 2017 mark by 194 points and surpassing classmate
Alexis Brenzil for fourth on the Hawai'i all-time performances list.
Abbott's career-best 128-4 (39.13m) in the javelin throw won the event. She also earned sixth in the long jump with a mark of 17-11 (5.46m) in the long jump and 13th in the 800m.
With the multi-event championships in the books, Hawai'i will enter the full championships next week in Northridge in fifth place with four points. The Big West Track and Field Championships is set from May 11-12.
