HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team returns to action after a 37-day layoff this week as they take on Air Force (6-2, 0-0 Mountain West) on Saturday, February 17 and Sunday, February 18. Both matches are set to start at 12:00 pm at the UH Tennis Complex.
After a busy start to the season when the Rainbow Warriors played four matches in six days against a pair of ranked teams (No. 21 Florida State and No. 24 Texas Tech) the 'Bows will face their former WAC opponent, Air Force for the first time since 2011 and have an all-time record of 12-18 against the Falcons.
UH newcomer
Tristan Martins leads the 'Bows with a 2-2 singles record. He posted both wins against players from No. 24 Texas Tech.
Aleksa Lazarevic defeated Texas Tech on the No. 4 court vs. TTU's Ilgiz Valiev in three hard fought sets.
In UH's most recent match,
Felix Albert held off Texas Tech's normal No. 1 player, Alex Sendegeya in three sets, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.
The Falcons are led in singles by three players who have already recorded double-digit wins this season. Paul Hendrix has posted a team-best 12-5 record and is 3-0 on the No. 6 court. Sean McKendree is 12-6 overall and 5-2 in dual matches while Isaac Perez is 11-6 overall and a perfect 6-0 in duals. He is 3-0 on both the No. 2 and the No. 3 courts.
