INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—The University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team (18-8, 14-2 Big West) will be heading to Eugene, Ore. for the 2018 NCAA Tournament's First and Second Rounds as announced on Sunday afternoon. For the second-straight season, the Rainbow Wahine earned an at-large bid into the tournament. Hawai'i will open play against No. 25 Baylor (19-8. 11-5 Big 12) on Thursday, Nov. 29 at 2:30 pm HT in the Matthew Knight Arena. Host team and 15th-seed Oregon (20-10) will face New Mexico State (24-7) at 5:00 pm HT.
The Rainbow Wahine finished the season second in the Big West Conference with a 14-2 record for the second-straight year. It is UH's 37th overall and 26th-consecutive NCAA appearance. Baylor finished second in the Big 12 with an 11-5 record. It is the Bears' third-consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Thirty-two conferences were awarded automatic qualification, and the remaining 32 slots were filled with at-large selections to complete the bracket. The top 16 teams were seeded nationally and placed within four regions. Stanford earned the top seed followed by No. 2 Minnesota, Illinois secured the third seed, while the BYU rounded out the top four.
