LONG BEACH, Calif. – The University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine sailing team closed out is fall schedule with a seventh-place finish at the PCSCC Women's Fall Championship, Oct. 27-28, in Southern California.
A total of 34 races in two divisions were completed over the weekend. The first day saw the teams wait nearly two hours for wind before heading out to the open water in conditions of 4-16 knots. Sunday the teams sailed inside the harbor in 5-7 knots of wind. UCSB captured the nine-team regatta by a comfortable 28-point margin over second-place and host USC.
UH totaled 367 points – 202 in the A division and 165 in the B division.
Hayden Lahr,
Kelly Sojka, and
Paige Sullivan sailed for UH in the A division, while
Annika Garrett,
Megan Zamzow and
Megan Lucas competed in the B division.
The Rainbow Wahine will next hit the water for the spring season, beginning with the Peter Wenner Rainbow Invitational, Jan. 19-20, at Keehi Lagoon.
