SAN FRANCISCO – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow coed team placed second and the Rainbow Wahine placed 15th in the 29th Annual Stoney Burke Intersectional held on Oct. 13-14 in Clipper Cove off of Treasure Island in the San Francisco Bay.
In all, 25 teams representing 18 schools competed in the regatta. Winds were light in the morning, while getting up to 12 to 18 knots in the afternoons. A total of 24 races—12 each in the A and B divisions—were completed over the weekend. UCSB won the regatta with 65 points with UH finishing runner-up with 85 points. The UH coed team was powered by
Michael Pacholski and
Devon Stapleton in the A Division, while
Patrick Wilkinson and
Danielle Ahir sailed in the B Division.
The Rainbow Wahine scored a total of 329 points in divisions A and B.
Annika Garrett and
Megan Lucas sailed in the B Division, while
Hayden Lahr,
Kelly Sojka and
Megan Zamzow competed in the B Division.
Next up, the University of Hawai'i will compete in the PCCSC Match Race Championships. October 20-21, in Los Angeles.
