HONOLULU – After a week off the course, the University of Hawai'i cross country squad is headed back to the mainland for the Charles Bowles Invitational, this weekend in Salem, Ore.
With a six-runner traveling party, the Rainbow Wahine will compete at a meet hosted by Willamette for the first time since the 2007 season. UH is coming off its toughest competition of the year, finishing ninth at University of Washington's 26th Sundodger Invitational, two weeks ago in Seattle. In addition, this will mark UH's first meet in Oregon since the 2010 season.
Leading the group the last time out, freshman
Sienna Santiago (La Mesa, Calif.) paced the Rainbow Wahine for the second consecutive meet.
Saturday's race will take place at McCulloch Stadium and Bush Park on a course composed of extremely mixed terrain – grass, bark chips, track, blacktop, cement and graveled paths will be found on the course.
The women's 5k race is the second event of the day and is scheduled to begin at 7:20 a.m. HT (10:20 a.m. PT).
Complete meet information can be found on the Willamette
meet page.
