HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i women's soccer team kicks off the 2017 season with the 'Ohana Hotels by Outrigger shootout this weekend, facing Utah Valley on Aug. 18 at 7:00 p.m. and Fairfield on Aug. 20 at 5:00 p.m. Both games will be played at Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium.

Hawai'i looked sharp in a 3-0 win over Houston Baptist in exhibition play on Aug. 14, picking up goals from sophomore
Lillie French, redshirt-sophomore
Kiri Dale and senior
Paige Okazaki. Freshman

Alexis Mata made four saves in the shutout win.

The 'Bows will look to continue the home dominance in 2017 that dates back to last season, when UH went 7-1-2 (.750) at WPSS. Standing in the way, however will be a Utah Valley team that went 10-8-2 in 2016 and is under the direction of first-year head coach Chris Lemay, who will make his head coaching debut on Friday. Lemay spent the past four seasons as the associate head coach at Cal.

Fairfield and Hawai'i will face each other for the first time in program history on Sunday. The Stags are led by long-time head coach Jim O'Brien, who has accumulated 113 wins at the school and 218 in his career. Fairfield, however, went 3-13-2 last season.

Houston Baptist will also participate in the tournament, facing Fairfield on Aug. 18 and Utah Valley on Aug. 20.

The Rainbow Wahine will remain home for the Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Soccer Classic Aug. 24-28 where UH will face Pacific (Aug. 24) and Seattle U (Aug. 28).
