SUVA, FIJI – Joining a large group of University of Hawai'i track and field student-athletes making appearances in international competition this summer, redshirt freshman
Alison Bowman will be in the field this week at the 2017 Oceania Athletics Area Championships, representing both the Rainbow Wahine and her home country, Guam.

The meet runs overall from June 28 through July 1 at ANZ Stadium in Suva, Fiji. Bowman will represent Guam in two races, the women's senior 1,500m and women's senior 800m, after reaching qualifying marks in both events during the 2017 season at UH. Bowman is a 2015Â John F. Kennedy High School in Tamuning, Guam and will be making her debut as a part of Team Guam.

Tim Boyce said. "She made solid improvement this year for UH and this experience should aid greatly in her continued development and boost her confidence as a runner."

The 800m race is scheduled for Friday, June 30 at 5:40 p.m. local time (Fiji Standard Time) and the 1,500m is slated for Saturday, July 1 at 12:05 p.m. local time. FST is 18 hours ahead of the Hawaiian Islands.

As for UH summer competitions, freshman hammer thrower
Haleigh Sudbeck just finished eighth at the USA Track and Field Junior Championships last week in Sacramento, Calif. Freshmen
Alexis Brenzil and
Tatiana Desender are scheduled to compete in the Canadian Junior Nationals, July 3-8 in Ottawa, Ontario. Freshman
Calli-Ann Abbott will be representing Team British Columbia in the Canada Summer Games, July 28-August 3 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
