SAN FRANCISCO – The University of Hawai'i coed sailing team finished seventh and the women's team finished in the 14
th in the St. Francis Invitational held April 8 -9 in San Francisco Bay.
A total of 18 races – nine in each the A and B divisions – were completed over the weekend. California captured the regatta with a low of 89 points, followed by Stanford (103) and UC Santa Barbara (110). A total of 21 teams from 18 West Coast schools competed.
UH's coed squad totaled 152 points, just two points behind UCLA. The B team of
Michael Pacholski,
Cole Brauer, and
Patrick Wilkinson did particularly well, finishing third in their division with 62 points.
Chuck Eaton,
Annika Garrett, and Wilkinson sailed for 90 points and ninth place in the A division.
The Rainbow Wahine, meanwhile, finished 14
th overall and second amongst women's squads with 215 points behind the efforts of
Louise Currie,
Megan Zamzow,
Caitlin Schadt, and
Gianna Bailey.
Next up for the coed squad is the PCCSC Team Race (April 28) and Coed Dinghy (April 29-30) Championships in Stanford, Calif. The Rainbow Wahine will compete in the PCCSC Women's Dinghy Championship in San Diego, Calif., April 15-16.
