HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i softball team (11-8, 0-0 Big West) swept Toledo in a non-tournament doubleheader on Tuesday night at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium. Hawai'i won the first game 3-0 with UH starter
Dana Thomsen firing a one-hit shutout and three solo home runs by
Angelique Ramos,
Callee Heen and
Heather Morales. The Rainbow Wahine then won the second game, 6-1 with
Brittany Hitchcock earning the complete game win while
Nicole Lopez, Ramos and Morales all had 2 RBI apiece.

UH starter
Dana Thomsen (3-2) fired a one-hit shutout with two walks and a career-high 10 strikeouts. She faced just 24 batters in the game and had just one Rocket runner reach second base. It was her second shutout of her Rainbow Wahine career.
In the bottom of the third,
Angelique Ramos led off the inning by drilling a solo home run over the left-centerfield to give the 'Bows a 1-0 lead. It marked her third home run of the season.
Hawaii added two runs in the bottom of the sixth on back-to-back solo home runs by
Callee Heen and
Heather Morales. Heen's home run sailed over the right-centerfield fence. It was her fourth home run of the season tying her for the team lead with
Nicole Lopez. Morales followed with her third home run of the season and the 14th of her career.
Toledo's Heather Webb took the loss, dropping her record to 2-3. She gave up three runs on eight hits with no walks and four strikeouts in a complete game effort.

Hawai'i starter
Brittany Hitchcock raised her record to 7-5 with a complete-game win. She gave up one run on six hits with a walk and four strikeouts. Hitchcock now has thrown nine complete games in 12 starts.
Hawai'I erupted for four runs in the bottom of the third to breakup the scoreless game.
Bree Soma was plunked to start the inning. Danielle Garcilita then laid down a sacrifice bunt to push Soma to second.
Sarah Muzik then drew a walk and
Nicole Lopez followed with a double to the left-centerfield gap to score both Soma and Muzik. Heen followed with another walk. After a popout,
Justine Garner drew the third walk of the inning to load the bases. Ramos then got a hit to left with runners going on two outs, both Lopez and Heen scored to give the 'Bows a 4-0 lead.
The Rockets got one run back in the top of the fourth. Samantha Golden got a one out single to center and later pinch runner Marriah Wise scored with two outs on a single by Kaitlyn Cozy.
In the fifth, UH added two runs on a two-run bomb by Morales over the leftfield fence that drove in Heen who had walked earlier in the inning. It was Morales' second homer of the doubleheader and her fourth homer of the season. It was her 15th roundtripper of her career.
Toledo's Alissa Noble took the loss, giving up four runs in three innings on three hits with five walks. She fell to 2-4 on the season. Leah Allison threw the next two innings, allowing two runs on one hit with a walk and a strikeout. Kailey Minarchick finished the game, firing one inning.
Hawai'i will begin its fourth home tournament tomorrow, Wednesday, March 8 as the Outrigger Spring Fling Tournament gets underway. UH opens against Charleston Southern at 6:00 pm.
