SANTA BARBARA, Calif.—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (11-5, 6-0 Big West) remained unbeaten in the Big West after defeating UC Santa Barbara on the road, 4-1 on Thursday afternoon at the UCSB Tennis Courts. Hawai'i has won three of their last four with just four matches left on their regular season schedule—including two conference matches.
 
The Rainbow Wahine took a 1-0 lead after capturing the doubles point against the Gauchos (7-9, 1-1 BWC). UCSB's No. 3 pair of Amanda Atanasson and Stefani Stojic cruised to a 6-0 win over UH's Marina Hruba and Alzbeta Houbova. But then Hawai'i's No. 2 duo of Cindy Nguyen and Klara Pribylova knocked off UCSB's Jaimee Gilbertson and Natalie Da Silveira, 6-2 to even things at 1-1. UH's No. 1 team of Petra Melounova and Roxanne Resma held off Palina Dubavets and Melissa Baker by a break for the 6-4 win.
 
No. 1 Melounova won both sets by a break to hold off  Dubavets, 6-4, 6-4. The Gauchos' Atanasson then defeated Nikola Dolakova, 7-6(4), 6-3 to cut UH's lead to 2-1 in the match. But then the Rainbow Wahine reeled off the next two wins to secure the 4-1 win. UH's No. 6 Michelle Pits dealt a straight set win over Baker, 6-0, 6-4. Nguyen then clinched the match with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Gilbertson on the No. 2 court to lift UH to an unblemished 6-0 record in conference.
 
The Rainbow Wahine will return home for a few days before returning to the mainland for a couple of road matches beginning on Saturday, April 8 at UNLV followed by UC Irvine on Tuesday, April 11.
