SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (10-5,  5-0 Big West) remained undefeated at 5-0 in Big West play with a 6-1 win at Cal Poly. The Mustangs won the doubles point but the Rainbow Wahine battled back to sweep all six singles matches at the Mustang Courts in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
 
With both Roxanne Resma and Klara Pribylova having to sit out due to the NCAA's player match limitations, the Rainbow Wahine had to re-shuffle their doubles lineup. On the No. 3 court, Cindy Nguyen and Nikola Dolakova joined forces to nearly blank Cal Poly's Celine Gruaz and Sayaka Tsugai, 6-1 to start the match. But the Mustangs' No. 2 Susanne Boyden and Abigail Bacharach defeated UH's Michelle Pits and Marina Hruba, 6-2. On the No. 1 court, CP's Seriana Saltzen and Molly Reed held off Petra Melounova and Alzbeta Houbova by a break to capture the doubles point, 6-4.
 
In singles however, Hawai'i won the first three matches in straight sets to take a 3-1 lead. No. 1 Melounova improved to 11-2 overall and 3-0 in conference by blanking Boyden, 6-0, 6-0. No. 4 Pits cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Gruaz while No. 5 Dolakova defeated Bacharach, 6-1, 6-3. Nguyen then clinched the match with a 6-1, 5-7, 6-4 win over Saltzen on the No. 2 court. The victory snapped Nguyen's four-match losing streak and raised her overall record to 11-7 overall and 4-1 in the Big West. Houbova was locked in a tight battle against Tsugai at No. 6. Tsugai held off Houbova in the first set in a tie-breaker, 6-7 (5) but Houbova took the second set by a break. The third set was decided by a super tiebreaker with Houbova pulling away, 10-2. No. 3 Hruba completed the singles sweep with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 win over Reed. For Hruba, it marked her 10th win in her last 11 matches (her last match at Stanford went unfinished).
 
The Rainbow Wahine complete their second roadtrip of the regular season at UC Santa Barbara (7-8, 1-0 BWC) on Thursday, March 30 at 10:30 a.m. at the Rob Tennis Courts in Santa Barbara, Calif.
